ingredients
1 brisket, 5 to 6 pounds
- onion soup mix, 1 to 1 1/2 ounce envelope
2 cups water
1 cup ketchup
½ cup beer
¼ cup flour
directions
1. Mix onion soup mix with water in roasting pan. Season meat with salt and pepper. Place meat in pot, cover with foil and cook at 325 degrees for 2 1/2 hours or until almost done. Remove meat to cool.
2. Pour gravy in a bowl and place in freezer. When fat hardens, remove it. Mix gravy with ketchup, beer and flour. Slice meat, place in roaster, add gravy mixture and cover.
3. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes or until meat is tender. Can be frozen before cooking the last 40 minutes.
